Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update April 2021

Florence St Family Practice is a registered Covid-19 vaccine provider and has commenced participating in the Astra-Zeneca vaccine roll-out. On the 9/4/2021 it has been recommended that people under the age of 50 receive the Pfizer vaccine unless the risks of contracting Covid outweigh the benefits. For those over 50, please note that the initial supply of vaccines is limited and we need to prioritise eligible patients. Our staff will be contacting these patients to make an appointment. As supply becomes more readily available more appointments will open up for Covid-19 vaccination, we ask that you please be patient. If you need to obtain an earlier appointment, you can go online to the vaccine eligibility checker- answer the eligibility questions, and then be directed to other practices in the area that are participating in the roll-out sooner. It is advisable to bring along a Health Summary.

All patients are reminded to continue to wear a mask when attending the practice. We have a COVID Safety plan which  involves checking in with a QR code linked to Service NSW. If you do not have a phone that can download apps, then staff will check you in. All people who attend the practice need to check in with the QR code including carers and family members (children too).

In order to minimise the spread of coronavirus, if you are unwell, particularly with respiratory symptoms i.e runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever, headaches etc please PHONE the surgery for an initial bulk-billed telephone consultation, the doctor will then assess if you need to come in. Please DO NOT WALK-IN without an appointment.

If you are feeling very unwell- difficulty breathing, chest pains… call 000 for an ambulance.

NSW Health recommends that anyone with respiratory symptoms or unexplained fever should be tested for COVID-19. Anyone who has been in a hotspot location should also be tested. To arrange this, please call the surgery for a telephone appointment or contact the COVID hotline 1800 020 080.

NEW PATIENTS and patients with respiratory symptoms are advised to phone for an appointment rather than booking on-line.

APPOINTMENTS
Appointments can be made online or you can ring  for an appointment.
If you need more time with the doctor, please tell the receptionist when you make your booking.
Urgent medical problems will always be dealt with promptly.

HOUSE CALLS
The doctors are available for home visits to regular patients if they are too sick to come to the surgery. Please phone the surgery in the morning so that house calls can be made at lunchtime.

AFTER-HOURS
When the surgery is closed, please ring 9476 2255 for instructions on how to get after-hours care OR you can call the:
Home Doctor Service- they provide telephone advice and after hours Home Visits if required for our surgery Ph: 13 SICK (7425). In an emergency however, ring 000 for an ambulance.

FEES
Fees are payable at the time of consultation. They may be paid by cash, cheque, MasterCard or Visa.
Staff can assist with Medicare rebates in the surgery using Medicare Easyclaims.
Standard consultations for Pensioners, Children under 15, Veteran Affairs cardholders and health care cardholders are bulk-billed.
